Why do you need tuning? And why from me? There are lots of reasons! Once you see that it's for you, then ask yourself, why pay more for less?
Many people do not understand what tuning a car computer is about, or why or when it needs done. Here are some reasons:
Those are just some of the reasons why you would want your PCM tuned! There are others!
Did you know that many "professional tuners" do not touch the areas of the PCM where most driving is done? Many of my customers come to me from other tuners, because they were not satisfied. When I saw what was in their PCMs from those other "tuners," I can understand why.
Most of the time, all that is changed is the timing is raised substantially in the WOT areas (many times, to a point where it would cause knock), and the AFR at WOT is leaned out only the slightest bit.
The majority of the tuners either do not touch the timing at part-throttle areas, or change it in a way which will make the car run even worse than with the stock tune! I do my best to adjust things everywhere, based on tuning my own car as well as thousands of others over the years, so that your run car runs better than it did before.
What will you gain with me? As mentioned above, with the Power Tune, you will get a smoother running engine in all areas, more HP/torque across the entire RPM band, better throttle response, and even an increase in MPG!
While some results can be unusual depending on the setup, common gains seem to be in the range of 1-3 MPG and 20-30 rwhp, based on many reports of picking up 2-3 tenths and MPH in the 1/4 mile, as well as some dyno results.
You can enjoy these kinds of benefits and increases with my inexpensive tuning via: new chips for your 1986-1993 GM TBI/TPI/LT1 F- & Y-Body ECMs; reflashing your PCMs for the 1994-1995 OBDI LT1, 1996-1997 OBDII LT1, and 1997-2002 OBDII LS1.
My latest offering is my Cable Loan Power Tune, where I can send you an ALDL cable and software so that you can load my tunes into your own PCM in your vehicle, without having to remove your PCM and ship it to me. This is primarily for the 1994-1995 LT1 PCMs, since they are flash-based; however, I also offer the same package for earlier chip-based TPI/TBI F- & Y-Body vehicles, which will still involve you installing new chips.
Both the above PCM types will still benefit even more from this method because it will allow you to data-log the vehicle while driving, so that I can use that feedback to fine-tune it even further for you, either through email (for '94-'95 LT1s), or with new chips I'll send you through postal mail (for '86-'92 TPI/TBI).
Other places charge as much as $300+ for cookie-cutter tunes for your unique setup. Many of their tunes that I have personally seen could, at the least, leave you with a poor running vehicle, or, at the worst, cause engine damage.
Why pay $300+ for a Hypertech Power Programmer (HPP) or Jet Tuner when its power tuning can risk detonation or reduce your engine's power, and when you can account for new gears/tires for under $100 from me?
Read the Testimonials of my customers and you will see that I've been offering a great service at a great price for years!
